Celebrating One Year of Marriage

Our first anniversary was on May 14th. When we were choosing a day to get married, one plus about mid-May is that we will always have nice-long memorial day weekend to help us celebrate! So, we planned an anniversary getaway for a couple weeks later and on our anniversary we went out to dinner and a movie.

We chose Cheesecake Factory because we knew we wanted yummy dessert.

Since I really don't like cheesecake, I went with my favorite: Strawberry Shortcake...it is sooo yummy! It was a serving large enough for an entire family, but Robby and I polished it off, along with his peanut butter cup cheesecake. 

 These were the beautiful flowers that were delivered for me! I love colorful flowers, they really brightened up our home for days after!

So...after our anniversary, life went on as normal. Robby at work, me at home working on internship orientation homework...and then came memorial day! We went to a resort in Scottsdale, AZ. It was absolutely beautiful!

We lounged and read at the pool for hours.

We explored and enjoyed the beautiful weather!

We tried a new restaurant, Oregano's. This was our ginormous caesar salad, yes that is one serving...good thing we decided to share!

This is our yummy deep dish pizza. It lasted for 3 more meals :) We felt like we belonged on man vs food since it was so big, cheesy and delicious.

We got Frosty's and watched movies. 

Oh and here is a story that we will laugh about for a long time. On Sunday morning we wanted to find a local sacrament meeting to go to...harmless right? Well, we looked at the map online and saw that it was just down the street from our resort. So, we left about 20 minutes before the meeting was going to start and headed down the road to find it. We drove for about 15 minutes, wondering why we hadn't found it yet. I looked up the address online (thank heaven for smart phones) and put it in the GPS in the car. Well, it turns out that lds.org didn't send us to the closest chapel. It was about 10 miles from our resort, about 5 miles in the  opposite direction from where we were. So, we finally got there on the most random, backroads route and about 25 minutes late. So we sat in the lobby and enjoyed the talks, since that is all we made it in time for. At least we can say we tried, right? Lesson learned: do some research before you decide to follow the map to the "closest" chapel :)

Our homemade spring break (a few months later...)

Thanks to BYU and the spring break they don't give us, Robby and I decided to make our own in March. We headed down to Las Vegas for a nice long 5 day weekend (neither of us had school on Fridays and we skipped Thursdays classes). This is what our weekend was made of:

Eating at our favorite: Raising Canes!  (I'm not ashamed to say we ate there 4 times in 5 days...)

Celebrating the birthday boy's 24th birthday!!

Walking out onto the new, very high, albeit very beautiful bridge at Hoover Dam. I think I broke Robby's hand I was squeezing it so hard. Heights and me do not mix well...

Supporting our BYU cougars in as many games as we could for the Mountain West Conference Tournament! We were in the Thomas and Mack for...count em....6 games! We especially loved watching Jimmer score 52 points against New Mexico...even if we were sitting in the BYU-hating UNLV season ticket holder section.

The last thing we did was see The Lion King at Mandalay Bay. My 2nd time, Robby's first...and it was just as amazing as I remembered! We loved it. 

We had so much fun on our homemade spring break. It was much needed in what was probably the busiest semesters of our college careers.

I'm new at this...

After putting it off for so long, I finally decided to start a blog! This is for you mom-now you can see all my pictures!!  I'll update you on the recent happenings in the Boyle household.

1. The biggest, most recent update is....we graduated from BYU!!

We are so excited to be done with our college careers, but we are already missing Provo and all of our wonderful friends.  I graduated with a BS in Dietetics and Robby in Management, emphasis in OB/HR. Our diplomas came in the mail last week and they look pretty awesome!!

This is me paying my respects to the beloved Eyring Science Center. Oh how I will miss the days of studying (and cooking and eating) in Pen Court, entering menus into ESHA in the dietetics lab until the wee hours of the morning and of course, C-255 where I spent most of my time. Even though it was hard, I really do miss it all.

 Here is the business man in the family in what might be my favorite picture of the whole week. Robby of course had to pay his respects to his home-away-from-home at BYU: the Tanner Building. 

We were so blessed to celebrate with our families and we really missed those who couldn't be there with us (Megs, that means you). It was so fun to walk on that stage in the culmination of 4 years of hard work! We are so proud to be BYU Alumni!

What is up next for us: We moved to sunny Mesa, Arizona! Robby started his job at Dentimax last week and is rocking it so far!  I will be spending the summer by the pool...just kidding...doing homework and preparing for my internship which starts in August! We have our one year anniversary getaway coming up this memorial day weekend, along with a trip for me to Utah in June for internship orientation followed by a trip to Seattle for my beautiful sister's graduation from high school. Then back to Seattle for my best friends wedding in August. We are also planning to sneak away to Vegas a couple of weekends as well. We are thrilled to be here in Arizona and can't wait to see what life brings us!
